This one stops people in their tracks. The pattern on each stone is not a design, not a print, not a coincidence. It’s a fossil. Millions of years of freshwater snail shells, preserved in chalcedony, polished smooth and sitting in the palm of your hand.

No two stones are the same. The markings shift between cream, black, brown, and warm amber, and every single one tells a completely different story.

These are large tumble stones with real presence. Something worth picking up and looking at properly.

Each order contains one intuitively chosen stone.

The Stone & The Science

Turritella Agate is a sedimentary rock formed from fossilised freshwater snails called Elimia tenera, embedded in silica rich chalcedony over millions of years. Most of it comes from Wyoming in the USA, where ancient lake beds preserved the shells in extraordinary detail.

Agate itself scores 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it a robust everyday stone. The fossil record within each piece is genuinely ancient, often dating back 50 million years or more.

It’s associated with grounding and a sense of connection to the earth and to time itself. When everything feels urgent and overwhelming, there’s something quietly useful about holding something that has existed for 50 million years and isn’t in any rush.

Keep it on your desk, your shelf, or anywhere you need a moment of perspective.
