The Stone & The Science

Tiger’s Eye is a metamorphic rock formed when quartz gradually replaces a fibrous mineral called crocidolite, preserving the original fibre structure within the stone. That’s what creates the chatoyancy, the silky optical effect that shifts as light moves across it. It’s the same phenomenon you see in a cat’s eye, which is exactly where the name comes from.

It sits at 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it hardwearing and well suited to everyday carry.
