Marshmallow

Gives a soft, sweet warmth. It’s a note associated with comfort and nostalgia, the kind of smell that leans more toasted sugar than anything sharp or artificial. That gentle sweetness makes it an easy base to build warmer, cosier blends around.

Pistachio

Warm, nutty and slightly sweet, with a subtly green edge. Known for its grounding and comforting qualities, it has been used in aromatherapy to ease restlessness and quiet an overactive mind, adding an earthiness that stops sweeter notes from feeling one dimensional.

Rum

Brings depth, with a rich, slightly boozy warmth that adds weight to the lighter notes around it. It’s often used in cosy, colder weather blends for exactly that reason, giving a scent more body without making it feel heavy.

Peony

Rounds it all off with something floral and light, a soft, slightly fruity floral that lifts the blend rather than weighing it down.

Together they create a scent that’s cosy without being sickly.

General Candle Advice

First burn

Let your candle burn for at least 1–2 hours the first time you light it. This gives the wax time to melt fully across to the edges. Skipping this step can cause tunnelling, where the candle burns a narrow hole down the centre and leaves wasted wax around the sides on every burn after.

Trim the wick

Trim the wick to about 5mm before each burn. A too-long wick causes a bigger flame, soot, and faster burning. A small pair of scissors or a wick trimmer does the job, just avoid touching a hot wick with your fingers

Burn time

Don’t burn for more than 3–4 hours at a time. The wax pool gets too hot beyond that, which can cause the container to overheat and shortens the overall life of the candle.

Keep it centred

If the wick starts leaning or drifting off centre while the wax is still soft (usually early in a burn), gently nudge it back with a cocktail stick or similar. This helps it burn more evenly.

Safety basics

Keep away from drafts, curtains, and anything flammable. Never leave burning unattended, and keep out of reach of children and pets. Extinguish with a snuffer or by dipping the wick into the wax rather than blowing, this prevents hot wax splatter and smoke.

Getting the last of it

Once you’re down to about 1cm of wax, it’s time to stop burning, the container can get too hot and the scent throw weakens anyway.
