Topped with a scatter of pink and blue crystal chips and a touch of shimmer, this one looks as good as it smells. Housed in a sleek blue tin with 50 hours of burn time, it’s the kind of candle that earns its spot on your side table.

The scent is a blend of bergamot, lychee and mandarin up top, settling into warm notes of caramel and vanilla. Bright and fruity at first light, cosy and sweet as it burns down.

Bergamot

Is a citrus oil pressed from the peel of the bergamot orange, widely used in aromatherapy for its calming, uplifting effect on mood. It’s also the oil that gives Earl Grey tea its distinctive flavour.

Unlike sharper citrus oils, bergamot has a slightly spicy, almost floral undertone, which is part of why it’s so often used in perfumery as well as aromatherapy.

Research has linked it to reduced cortisol levels, making it one of the few citrus notes credited with a genuinely calming effect rather than just an energising one.

 
Mandarin

Brings a sweeter, softer citrus note than orange or lemon, often associated with comfort and gentle energy. It’s traditionally seen as a gentler, more nurturing citrus, the kind used in blends meant to soothe rather than sharpen focus. That softness makes it an easy note to pair with warmer, sweeter scents without overpowering them.

Lychee

Adds a juicy, floral sweetness that rounds out the citrus top notes and stops them feeling too sharp. It brings a fruitier, almost tropical quality that sits between citrus and floral, giving the blend a fuller, more rounded character.

It’s the kind of note that lingers gently rather than announcing itself, softening the overall scent.

As the candle burns down, caramel and vanilla take over.

Vanilla

Is one of the most researched scents for its soothing, stress reducing properties, while caramel adds a warm, sweet depth that makes the whole thing feel cosy rather than sickly.

Vanilla has been shown to have a calming effect on the nervous system, which is part of why it’s such a common base note in comfort focused blends. Together with caramel, it gives the candle a rounded, familiar warmth that balances out the brighter citrus and floral notes above it.

General Candle Advice

First burn

Let your candle burn for at least 1–2 hours the first time you light it. This gives the wax time to melt fully across to the edges. Skipping this step can cause tunnelling, where the candle burns a narrow hole down the centre and leaves wasted wax around the sides on every burn after.

Trim the wick

Trim the wick to about 5mm before each burn. A too-long wick causes a bigger flame, soot, and faster burning. A small pair of scissors or a wick trimmer does the job, just avoid touching a hot wick with your fingers

Burn time

Don’t burn for more than 3–4 hours at a time. The wax pool gets too hot beyond that, which can cause the container to overheat and shortens the overall life of the candle.

Keep it centred

If the wick starts leaning or drifting off centre while the wax is still soft (usually early in a burn), gently nudge it back with a cocktail stick or similar. This helps it burn more evenly.

Safety basics

Keep away from drafts, curtains, and anything flammable. Never leave burning unattended, and keep out of reach of children and pets. Extinguish with a snuffer or by dipping the wick into the wax rather than blowing, this prevents hot wax splatter and smoke.

Getting the last of it

Once you’re down to about 1cm of wax, it’s time to stop burning, the container can get too hot and the scent throw weakens anyway.
