Dead Sea salt

Sourced from one of the most mineral rich waters on earth, Dead Sea salt contains high concentrations of magnesium, calcium and potassium, far more than regular sea salt. Research has linked it to improved skin hydration and a reduction in inflammation, which is why it has long been used in dermatology and spa therapy. Soaking in it can also help ease muscle tension and joint stiffness, making it a favourite for genuine physical recovery rather than just relaxation.

Rose petals

Soft and deeply floral. One of the most studied scents in aromatherapy, rose has been shown in research to reduce anxiety, lower heart rate and promote a genuine sense of calm. The petals themselves contain natural antioxidants and have been used for centuries to soothe and soften skin.

How much to use

Add a small handful (roughly 2–3 tablespoons) to warm running water, this helps the salts dissolve evenly and release their scent as the bath fills. Adjust up or down depending on the size of your bath and how strong you like the fragrance.

Water temperature

Warm rather than very hot water works best, this protects the delicate lavender and helps the salts dissolve gently rather than clumping.

Soak time

Soak for at least 15–20 minutes to get the full relaxing effect. Lavender is well known for its calming scent, so this is a lovely one for winding down before bed.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve colour and scent.
